Summary
Donald van Dansik gained his Bachelors and Masters degree at the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Delft, Holland. [1982] He started his career with research funded by a grant of the Foundation for Social Sciences (SISWO) [1984] and he then wrote in virtually all Architecture periodicals in Holland and 'Technique et Architecture'.
He then was absorbed for 8 years in the planning and design of EURALILLE business centre, followed by NEW TOWNS for HANOI and in INCHON and in SGP, with OMA.[1996] He was from 2006 until 2008 based in London, consulting Halcrow (company towns in Libya) and Eacom (in Abu Dhabi), and was consultant for the Deltametropolis Foundation in Holland(2004-2006), an advisory board for the Dutch government and local planning authorities. The aim of the NGO is to overcome the Territorial and Disciplinary fragmentation of Public Planning.From 1999 to 2006 he was professor of architecture at Eindhoven University of Technology and partner at One Architecture in Amsterdam.1988 to 2000 he was managing director at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) in Rotterdam and in Lille (OMA-France). At OMA he worked on Urban Planning projects in Europe and Asia, the most significant is Euralille in France where he was project and design director for 7 years, from inception to final delivery.
His main experience is in integrated Project and Design management, in the field of urban design and city planning. His aim is to prepare the contemporary city for the future needs,with regard to architecture and planning and to the new socio-economic conditions, determined by the high social cost of capital and determined by a real environmental concern, the global trend in migration and the major changes in the demography and the need to apply the criteria for sustainability in a most realistic and generous way, touching all themes in planning: Including time management through compacting the Daily Urban System.
